I feel drawn to the quieter layers of healing. The soft inner voice, the body‑wisdom, the pauses that guide me back to myself. I find that I tend to push myself too hard, so I need that kindness in order to be balanced.
Over the years I’ve discovered that healing isn’t one practice or one path. Instead it’s an eclectic mix of things that shift and evolve over time. Healing is dynamic. And it’s important that it feels good, not like a chore.
I used to believe there was such a thing as the holy grail of healing. That one supplement that will make all the difference. That one meditation, that one breathing practice that restores. I no longer believe that.
Healing is not just practice, healing is a mind-set. Healing is about giving yourself persmission. Healing is knowing and trusting that it can happen. How you heal is less important. Once I learned this, I was able to create the space and the fertile ground for healing.
Bodies communicate. My body tells me what it needs, ‘all’ I have to do is listen. The listening part is often not what’s the problem though, taking aligned action is often the biggest hurdle. You can’t go from 0 to 100 in one day, and you don’t have to. Paying attention to the subtle cues and finding stillness is a very good start. Even just listening without taking action yet is a very good start.
Healing means you become your own best ally. That doesn’t mean you can only eat healthy and should meditate for hours each day. It means that you love yourself enough to enjoy what you love within boundaries that are not based in perfection but based in balance. To live in a way that doesn’t rely on force alone but that is sustainable for the rest of your life.
It can’t be overstated that there’s no need to stay positive all the time. You are all of you, your highs and your lows, your triumphs and your battles. One side is not more you than the other. Instead, ‘you’ is all of your different aspects put together. Take the pressure of and be authentic. Being yourself is one of the healthiest gifts you can give yourself.
Personally I love meditation and I love Reiki, but you don’t need them. What you need is to foster a kind and loving relationship with yourself. Healing can be conventional medicine and can be alternative medicine. Healing can be body-based and can be emotion-based. Healing can be structured and it can be intuitive. Healing can be laughing when you watch a movie and it can be finding stillness with a cup of tea. Healing can be whatever you need it to be.
This page will grow as I share more about my practice. Check back once in a while as it unfolds.
